Cycling and Walking Tours in Umbria

Get to know Tuscany’s quiet neighbor – Umbria.

Cycling reaches new levels as you experience this mystical land touched with soft colors and a sweet spirit. Bike through groves of silvery-green olive trees and along powdery shades of earth woven into a patchwork landscape. Umbria is the birth place of three major monastic orders: the Franciscans, the Clarisse, and the Benedictines. What better way to feel the peaceful and serene spirit of Umbria than cycling – and getting in touch with your own spirit.

Cut from major communication routes for centuries, Umbria has kept its traditions of pottery and weaving. The pottery is colourful and elaborately painted using techniques and patterns developed back to 800BC. Find these treasures and more in charming villages with cobbled alleys. Places where few tourists explore. Choose from one of our quiet cycling tours geared to different levels and see what you discover.

Bike Tuscany

Beautiful Tuscany. Beautiful Biking.

In Tuscany everything is beautiful – landscapes, culture, art, and biking. Simple pleasures are simply perfect. Immerse yourself in the art of living that this region offers. Like a masterpiece painting, housed in one of the many galleries and museums of the region, you will experience cycling through landscapes that are equally as lovely. The stunning landscapes are laced with rolling hills and crowned by medieval villages. Simply breathtaking.

Italian culture originated in Tuscany: making it the ideal Italy. You may find perfection in the espresso before you bike, the creamy gelato enjoyed mid-day or the rich ragus and pasta accompanied by delightful chianti wine at the end of the day. You too will understand why so many say “Ahhh, yes, Tuscany.”

We offer three biking tours allowing you to experience the art of Italian living and the art of biking in Tuscany – enjoyed at your preferred pace.

Matera/Basilicata, Italy Cycling Tours

Bike through a region overlooked by time.

Uncover the mysteries of Matera and Basilicata, in the “arch” of Southern Italy’s boot. It is the least known region to Italian tourists as well as native Italians – a place that almost feels untouched and forgotten. Making it all the more inviting to explore it slowly and gently. It is a treasure chest with varied colors and landscapes – each day a new biking experience. Bike through beautiful forests carpeted with wild pink orchids, enjoy wild blackberries along the route, and settle in sweet villages that have maintained their identity for centuries. Bello. Beautiful.

Explore fascinating UNESCO World Heritage sites. Discover the Sassi of Matera – century-old caves carved out of rock cliffs and lived in until the 1950’s. This UNESCO Site is being renovated and once again occupied.

There is an optional extension to this tour which would allow for another day of biking through the fairytale-like village of Alberobello, another UNESO Site known for its small, conical shaped rock houses called trulli. Unique places waiting for you.

Amalfi Coast, Italy Walking Tours

Find yourself among a dramatic landscape.

Surround yourself by the sun-drenched coastline — rugged and twisting by the spectacular seaside. The amazing landscape is softened by picturesque villages surrounded by chestnut trees, olive groves, and terraced lemon orchards used for a special liquor called Limoncella. Served ice cold, this special drink is a refreshing end to a long hike or extraordinary meal. Salute.

Nearby Pompeii, in the shadows of Mt. Vesuvius, reminds all of the ancient intensity associated with the area. The tour takes you to Ercolano, a neighboring village to Pompeii, also brought to an early end by Vesuvius. Ercolano offers an amazing archeological experience and wonderful new museum without the crowds experienced at Pompeii.

Explore the regional cuisine through food and wine tastings, as well as cooking classes. A soul-soothing journey you deserve.

Hike along quiet footpaths and stone stairways, that have linked these coastal villages for centuries. Follow the footsteps of ancient residents – quietly, among the spectacular views.

Biking in Sardinia

A cycling adventure on an untamed island.

Bikes and beaches – active or leisure – all of it in isolation? We provide the options. You decide the right combination of biking. Sardinia is a special place, almost a different culture than Italy – with separate traditions and an attitude of its own. Enjoy the slow pace of the island, the intense and unique blue of the sea, the wild beauty around you, and the amenities of Italy. This setting will make you want to forget all about time.

Sardinia was once known for its mines. Some signs of that industry still remain, but now the only resources mined are the natural wonders of the island… extracted with the only eye. Come, see what riches await you.

Sicily Biking and Walking Tours

Rich and ripe for exploration – adventures for biking and hiking  enthusiasts.

Sicily is beautifully complex created by an alluring mix of cultures, history, architecture, and cuisine. What better way to explore it than by bike…or hike. The island’s strategic position, lying between Europe and Africa in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, made it an attractive strong hold for many countries throughout the centuries. Each invader left a mark adding to the many layers that make Sicily spectacular. You will want to make it your strong hold as well – although for other reasons. Whether by bike or hike you will be a part of it all – the bold wildflowers, flowering almond trees, the salty smell of the sea, stunning ancient sites, and sounds of the birds. The ancient voices of Sicily are calling to you.

At the end of your activity explore the Sicilian cuisine, which can only be described as unforgettable – unique in all of the world. It is a balance of flavors derived from the many cultural influences over the centuries. What better reward after a day of biking or hiking?

Cycling in Apulia, Italy

It is true that there is magical atmosphere; a slower lifestyle that will touch your heart.

Escape to this enchanting place. By bike you can see each rock that makes up the small, round houses known as trulli. By bike you can smell the tomatoes and peppers cooking for dinner. And, you will bike by ancient olive groves known, even in Italy, for its wonderful olive oil. Take a break from your enjoyable ride along the beautiful beaches of this region.
